GAS, an Italian denim brand and a direct subsidiary of GAS Jeans, has sketched out retail expansion plans in India and a turnover that exceeds INR500m ($9.38m).

The company plans to take its number of retail points from currently five to 11 and then to 30 on completion of its three years of its re-launch in India, reported FashionUnited.

GAS India marketing & communication head Amit Dhanjani said the firm is coming up with new stores in Indian cities of Amritsar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Ludhiana and Pune.

"When we started in 2010, our strategy was to reach 12 stores in three years," Dhanjani said.

"Once we reach those numbers, we will take up the next stage of expansion."

The brand, now with complete hands-on control on its franchisees, finds India amidst its favourable markets like China and Italy despite positioning itself as a premium.

"We are achieving the numbers we wanted to. We did Rs 15 crores for the first year. Now we are targeting Rs 30 crores this year. For the next year it's going to be Rs 35 crores."

The firm has launched six ounce denim for this season. Dhanjani claims that GAS is the only brand to have reversible denim right now in women's wear.
