World?s second biggest PC maker, Lenovo, has said that the ARM-based Windows RT tablets will be $200 to $300 cheaper than x86-based Windows 8 tablets. The new revelation came from David Schmook, head of Lenovo?s North American operations. He added, ??RT will play in consumer and retail at very aggressive price points.?
Microsoft is expected to release two versions of its Surface tablet in October ? one based on Windows 8 and another based on Windows RT. The Windows 8 based Surface tablets will run on chips from Intel and AMD, leading platform for PCs; the Windows RT based Surface tablets will run on chips from ARM, the leader in mobile devices.
From the CPU specifications of the two models, it can be easily understood that ARM based Windows RT will be lower powered than its brother. Now, Microsoft partner Lenovo has revealed their price comparison. According to Lenovo?s North American chief, Windows 8 tablets will be priced from $600 to $700. Windows RT tablets will be $200 to $300 cheaper than its brother.
