A Houston-based real estate firm is breaking ground Tuesday for a medical project just east of Dallas.
PM Realty Group is beginning construction at U.S. Highway 80 and Broad Street in Forney. The Forney Emergency Center and Medical Office Building is the second phase of the Forney Medical Plaza.
The first phase of the project was built by PM Realty Group in 2008 and was recently purchased by Universal Health Realty Income Trust.
The development now starting will include a 13,248 square foot Forney Emergency Center and 5,000 square feet of office space for medical uses.
WB Kibler is the general contractor for the project which will be complete in early 2013. GSR Andrade is the architect.
Lake Pointe Health Network, part of Tenet Healthcare Corp., will operate the emergency center when it opens.

are seeking convenient care closer to home without the difficulties and time required to go to a
traditional hospital emergency room, are driving the demand for more Freestanding ERs,? PM Realty executive vice president Glen Perkins said in a statement.
Along with the Forney project, PM Realty is also building a 51,000-square-foot emergency center and medical office building in nearby Wylie.
